Stephanie Figueroa (’10) is a recent graduate from New York Law School, where her concentration was intellectual property law with a primary focus in fashion law. As a Student Research Fellow at the Institute for Information Law & Policy, Stephanie worked on publishing projects,and conducted research on varying issues of IP. She developed the Fashionably Law Lecture series and was involved in the creation of CaseClothesed, with the goal of bringing the serious legal study of the fashion industry to students, professionals, and novices alike. Stephanie’s work in fashion law includes interning at Chanel, Inc. and serving as one of the primary editors of CaseClothesed.
Greg Akselband (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. His interest in fashion was sparked when he was hired as a sales representative in a luxury clothing store at the ripe age of 15. He graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a major in Political Science and has an interest in brand development and protection, trademarks and copyrights. Greg is a firm believer that the story behind the brand is just as important, if not more so, than its products.
Lindsey Harriman (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. Her previous experience included working in the IP department of Affliction Holdings, LLC, Calvin Klein, Inc. and Stuart Weiztman, LLC. Her experience there included brand enforcement, domain name and trademark portfolio management, and research in the use of trademarks in social media.
Laura Levin (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School, and is interested in IP topics in cosmetics. Her work experience in the field includes a summer internship in the trademark department at Estee Lauder where she focused mainly on internet trademark issues for Lauder brands including Clinique and MAC. She hopes to put her experience in cosmetics to good use here on CaseClothesed by contributing discussion about the industry and how it compares to luxury fashion and accessories on IP issues. During her last year of law school, Laura continued monitoring the use of luxury trademarks on the internet while working at an internship with Chanel.
Melissa Morales (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. She graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Marketing Management and a minor in Music Industry. During law school, Melissa held the VP position and currently holds the COO position of the Fashion Law Division of the Media, Entertainment, and Fashion Law Association(MEFLA). In addition, she was a member of IILP’s Music Law Job-track program. Melissa is pursuing a legal career in Entertainment Law with a concentration in copyright and trademark issues.
Ashly Sands (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. While at NYLS her studies have focused on Intellectual Property. She is one of the founding members of CaseClothesed. Before coming to law school she was at Cravath, Swaine and Moore, LLP, where she worked on a major fashion trademark infringement litigation. While at NYLS she has interned with the Hon. Kent A. Jordan on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and at LVMH, where she interned for the General Counsel of The Donna Karan Company.
Maggie Sicklinger (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. She focused on intellectual property issues with a concentration in trademarks, copyright, and technology. Before attending law school, she was employed as a paralegal responsible for e-discovery and document compliance for class action litigation, government audits, and market conduct exams. She earned a BS in Management from the University of Phoenix.
Danielle Turturo (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. During law school, she has been part of the inaugural fashion law movement at NYLS. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a major in Psychology and has an interest in the effects of fashion on the mind.
Lawrence Winegrad (’11) is a recent graduate from New York Law School. He is very curious about the creative rights and trademark issues behind modern intellectual property within the fashion law industry. Lawrence graduated from the University of San Francisco, earning a B.A. in Politics.
